Love story in the middle of protests. Quito, Ecuador. August 2015.

Carlos Perez Guartambel, presidente de la Ecuarunari, movement of the indigenous people of Ecuador, and French-Brazilian journalist Manuela Picq, professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador.  

They are couple.

On August 14th, among other protesters, they were walking in Centro Historico Quito and were grabbed by police.

After being in police custody Carlos Perez ended up in hospital.
August 14th, Hospital Eugenio Espejo, Quito.

and Manuela was imprisoned for four nights, her personal belongings were stolen, her Ecuadorian visa was cancelled and  authorities started deportation process.

and she was set free on Monday, August 17th






Back to Parque Arbolito, base of indigenous march in Quito on August 17th.




however, as of August 20th, 2015, she still has problem with her visa.

Update: Manuela had to leave Ecuador. She flew to Brazil on Friday, August 21st.
