Good intentions, bad law. Medical malpractice in Ecuador. October 2013.

Lawmakers in Ecuador working on inclusion of medical malpractice in the new Criminal Code. They should look where these "good intentions" brought medical industry in US. It sounds great at first, protecting patients and all, but in reality, this law is beneficial only for the army of lawyers and for the insurance companies.

For these of you who think that "Medical malpractice should be a criminal offence. .... It all sounds good to me." - don't you already saw that with medical malpractice law, patients  pay more for medical services and since doctors are human beings, they won't stop making mistakes, no matter what law would say.
"Medical errors the third -leading cause of death in America, behind heart disease, which is the first and cancer, which is second." - quote from http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=how-many-die-from-medical-mistakes-in-us-hospitals
