Overstaying tourist (T-3, 90 days visa) visa in Ecuador. July 2013.

Ecuador has abolished the fine for foreigners overstaying their visas. It used to be $200. No more fine. Just show up at the airport and good-bye!
That doesn’t mean there’s no penalty. You can’t come back to Ecuador for nine months or a year (depends on a passport control officer), unless you get a consulate visa (the tourist visa) outside of Ecuador.
Someone I know entered Ecuador on T-3, 90 days visa in August 2012 and left in June 2013. He didn't renew his visa during his stay in Ecuador. He didn't have any trouble at the passport control at the Quito airport upon leaving Ecuador.
