One of the best places to buy mattresses in Quito. March 2012.

When we furnished our rental in 2010 we made a critical mistake - in the second bedroom we bought a sofa-bed ($374 at Muebles El Bosque) instead of a regular bed.  Big, big mistake.
When we had single renters and couples it was all good - they enjoyed using it as a sofa.  Well, when renters came as two friends and needed to sleep for a month or three - they complained how inconvenient it is to sleep on a sofa-bed.

We ended up selling the sofa-bed for $90 to our neighbor and buying a twin size base and mattress at Chaide y Chaide.  Chaide y Chaide, in my opinion, is one of the best places to buy mattresses in Quito.  They have a chart on their website which will guide you to the correct mattress, based on weight and back problems.
We bought a twin size mattress for a person up to 190 pounds and not soft, not hard. The base cost $95 and the mattress itself cost $147. This is "the cash" price.  If you would like to pay with a credit card, the price will be 25% more.
Delivery is free.
