Cucuruchos of Ecuador
In Ecuador, as in everywhere in the world, some people steal, some people abuse others, some people cheat, some people are liars, and the list can go on and on.
Only in Ecuador, once per year, these "some people" can come clean. Good Friday morning some of them became cucuruchos. They dress in the purple cloak, their feet chained, they carry wooden crosses, and some of them even wear real thorns wrapped around their heads. You can see a lot of cucuruchos at the great processions of Good Friday all over Ecuador.
Saturday they (some of them) are back to business.
